One Pot Stovetop Popcorn

Once a week, my husband and I sit down to watch the new episode of Game of Thrones and we always have a big bowl of stovetop popcorn.  In the same amount of time to microwave a bag of popcorn you can start to make homemade popcorn that is so much more delicious and satisfying than those microwave popcorn bags.

Homemade One Pot Stovetop Popcorn
Makes: 2 large portions

2 tablespoons of margarine, butter or olive oil
1/2 cup of popcorn kernels
Your choice of toppings:
1/4 teaspoon of salt OR
1/2 teaspoon of homemade taco seasoning OR
1 tablespoon of shredded parmesan cheese OR
1 tablespoon of powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

Heat the margarine, butter or oil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat.  Once the butter or margine is melted, spill in the popcorn kernels  giving the pan a little shake to coat the kernels  Cover with a lid and listen for popping.  In a minute you should start to hear the kernels beginning to pop.  Give the pan a little swirl.  The popping will pick up speed and then slightly begin to tapper off.  Once you notice that the popping has stopped, only a couple of minutes, your done.  Toss in your seasoning right away while the popcorn is hot and fresh.  Enjoy!
