Fruit Juice vs. Whole Fruit

Did you know that there is a difference between fruit cocktails and  fruit juice?

Only 100% unsweetened fruit juice can be called ‘juice’ any other beverages are called fruit ‘cocktail’, ‘punch’, ‘drink’ or ‘beverage’.

Even if you consume 100% unsweetened fruit juice, you are missing an added nutritional benefit from consuming the actual whole fruit, FIBER!! The added benefit of eating fiber is that it will make you feel full for longer than drinking a glass of juice.

Try having an orange for a snack with a glass of water or even try making this delicious smoothie that has over 3 grams of fiber.

Tropical Green Smoothie
Makes: 2 large servings

1 1/2 cups of skim milk or milk alternative
1 cup of baby spinach
1 cup of frozen mango or pineapple
1 banana

Pile the ingredients into your blender and mix until smooth and green!  Enjoy!
